The Black Stools
The Black Stools have been playing folk music in Leicester for approximately twenty years. For the last fifteen years they have led the weekly Irish session at Duffys Bar in the heart of Leicester City. Prior to this they run weekly session in Molly O’Gradys. Michael Sanders (aka Magic Michael) and Tony Dance (aka Teashop Tony) form this duo. They play a variety of instruments including EWI or Electronic Wind Instrument, flute, Northumbrian Pipes, tin whistles, Guitar, mouthorgan and Bodran.
Although the duo play predominantly Irish folk ballads along with jigs and reels, don’t be surprised to hear different genres of music both old and new. Set lists include Country sing along classic’s, Scottish ballads by Dougie MacClean or even The Proclaimers, Buddy Holly, Oasis, Beatles, Richard Thompson, Show Of Hands and Don McLean. The pair pride themselves on giving the audience a good time and enjoy having banter with them.
